The results of scientific research are not just opinions carrying the same weight as any random person’s untested ideas. It’s also not true that ‘you can prove anything with science’. It is true that some studies make untrue claims about things they say are supported by their study, but a careful reading of the study will tell you if it does actually support their claims or not. This is why we have the peer review system.
Due to some of the wild claims I hear from people online and a complete lack of understanding of what constitutes science I want to dedicate a section of this site to education about scientific research. To teach people what counts as science and how to read papers for themselves. Many unfortunately don’t understand the difference between articles with people’s opinions and scientific research, and the consequences of this have been catastrophic in some cases. A family member of a friend is currently dying because of this lack of understanding.
Much more will be added to this section in the coming months.
